Picture of my dad Curling Laing at forestry camp in
Scotland. Dad joined the NOFU on December 13, 1939.
His number was 53. He left St.John's NL on the ship
RMS Antonia and arrived in Liverpool, England on Dec.18,1939. He worked with the forestry unit for two years. We do not know what camp he was at but are still trying to figure it out. He then joined the RAF and was stationeat Housel Bay, Cornwall, England. There hr met my mother and they were married. He returned to Norris Point Newfoundland in Jan.1946 on the S.S.Cavina. He lived the rest of his life in Norris Point where he raised a family of eight. Dad was fortunate to get a job with the Dept. of Forestry in Woody Point, NL. When Parks Canada tookover he transferred and became a park warden. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed his garden.
